Bandicoots & Bilbies

Bilbies are also known as a Rabbit-eared Bandicoot and only occur in Australia. They are sadly considered vulnerable to extinction due to habitat loss, competition for food from rabbits and being hunted by cats and foxes. The word ‘bilby’ comes from an Aboriginal word that means ‘long nosed rat’.
