Platypus

Platypus and are native to Australia.  They are known as Monotremes, which means that they are mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. The only other mammals that do this are Echidnas. They are also among the few venomous mammals though the venom is not life threatening to humans yet can cause severe swelling and pain.
